Bishop of Wakefiled

The Rt Revd Stephen Platten presides over and cares for the Diocese of Wakefield. He is the 12th Bishop of Wakefield and began this ministry on 19 July 2003. He was formerly Dean of Norwich.

He works with other senior members of staff and the Bishop’s Council in planning the strategic leadership of the diocese. 

The Bishop has particular interests in the study of theology and relations with other churches. He has recently been appointed as Chairman of the Church of England Liturgical Commission, which seeks to develop the worshipping life of the church.

Bishop of Pontefract

Rt Revd Tony Robinson

The Rt Revd Tony Robinson is the suffragan (assistant) Bishop of Pontefract. Bishop Tony assists the diocesan bishop in the day-to-day running of the diocese. He was formerly Archdeacon of Pontefract. He was consecrated as Bishop on 6 December 2002.
